Upcoming Municipal Election – November 18th
In the October newsletter, information was shared about an upcoming municipal election scheduled for November 18th. One of the items on the ballot will be a question regarding the potential sale of Optimist Park.
Optimist Park was once a popular space for families and youth sports, but its usage has significantly declined over the past few decades. The lower portion of the park—historically used for baseball, softball, and tee-ball practice—is located in a floodplain, making it marshy and unusable for long periods after heavy rainfall.
Due to these challenges and the park’s limited use, the City Council is proposing to sell Optimist Park. If approved by voters in the November 18 municipal election, proceeds from the sale would be used to fund improvements at Choctaw Creek Park and/or Ten Acre Lake Park—two parks that continue to serve the community regularly.
Residents will have the opportunity to vote on this proposal and help shape the future of our public park spaces. Stay informed and make your voice heard on November 18!
