Just a reminder — it’s not quite time to pop those fireworks. Please review the City Ordinance below to make sure you’re following all regulations. 26-297 Restrictions On The Discharge Of Fireworks 1. No fireworks shall be discharge, exploded, or ignited within 500 feet of any fireworks stand, church, hospital, asylum, unharvested flammable agricultural crops, public schools or public property. 2. Fireworks are to be discharged on July 1 through July 5 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. on private property and July 4 only, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. unless July 4 falls on a Monday through Thursday or Sunday, in which the hours revert to 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. 3. Consumer must have written permission from property owner to discharge fireworks upon private property from July 1 through July 5. 4. In the event of a countywide or statewide burn ban the city council gives authority to the fire chief to place additional restrictions on the discharge of fireworks as such fire chief deems appropriate.

Tree Removal and Road Closure on Harper Road Beginning Tuesday, June 24, the Public Works Department will begin preparing for the upcoming Harper Road reconstruction by removing trees along the roadway. Harper Road will be closed from Red Vine to NE 10th Street daily from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM for approximately 5 to 7 business days. Access to Choctaw Church of the Nazarene will remain available to church members via NE 10th Street. However, do not attempt to use the church as a detour, as all Harper Street entrances will be blocked and through traffic will not be permitted. Please avoid this area if possible.
