On August 19, the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation installed fish habitat at Ten Acre Lake and conducted a fish population survey. The survey found that the lake’s fish population is currently lower than we would like for the Fishing Derby.

Due to this summer’s extreme heat, which has contributed to fish kills across the state, the Wildlife Department recommends waiting until water temperatures cool significantly before stocking the lake.

As a result, the Fishing Derby originally scheduled for September 5 has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 3.

We are hopeful that temperatures will cool enough for the lake to be stocked before the new date. We will continue monitoring conditions and provide additional updates as they become available
