Adopt-A-Street

The Adopt-A-Street program is a way for volunteer groups to perform a valuable community service by adopting a one-mile section of roadway to keep clear of litter and debris.

The City of Choctaw installs permanent signs identifying the adopting group, and provides safety vests, trash bags, temporary traffic control signs, removal of filled bags and large, heavy, or hazardous items, and initial safety training.

The enthusiasm and promotion of a litter-free environment in the community resulting from the partnership of volunteers and the City of Choctaw helps to give Oklahoma the appearance of a state where people really care!

HOW TO ADOPT A STREET

Call 405-390-8198 or email the City Clerk with the name of the street your organization wishes to adopt.  Once we verify the street is available, you will receive an information packet.  The application needs to be completed and returned to:

City Clerk
P.O. Box 567
Choctaw, OK  73020

The Adopt-A-Street Program Coordinator will contact you concerning setting up a time to meet with volunteers for the mandatory safety training and set up your first clean-up date.  A minimum of four (4) clean-ups are required per year for each 2-year commitment.  Contact the Program Coordinator two (2) weeks prior to each clean-up to obtain supplies.

We look forward to many more groups helping to make a difference in their community!
